Do you have the second sock syndrome?  This is THE class for making socks!  Amy will teach you to make two socks at a time on one long circular needle.  You must already know the Magic Loop method.  You will be amazed and impressed with this project. If you have ever made socks the standard way - one at a time, and then never finished the other sock.....this is the class you MUST try.  


Supplies:    Approixmately 400 yards sock yarn, size 5, 40 inch circular needles, stitch markers

Prerequisite:  Ability to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, Magic Loop

SOCK BLANKS

A sock blank is an undyed machine-knitted length of fabric, usually flat but sometimes tubular. This piece of fabric is often, but not always, knitted of a double strand of yarn so that the resultant socks (or mittens or gloves) can be identical if desired.Hand dye your very own sock blank to be used to create a matching pair of socks or a beautiful shawl.

Knitting 103 
$45 Knit a Hat on circular needles

Supplies: 200 yards of worsted weight yarn, Size 8 16-inch circular needles, Size 8 Double Pointed Needles, stitch markers, tapestry needle
Prerequisites: Cast on, knit, purl, bind off

Time: Two 1 1/2-hour sessions.

What’s next, after dishcloths and scarves, you ask? Learn to knit a simple hat. This class is perfect for knitters who are ready to learn a few more essential knitting skills: knitting on circular needles, ribbing, increasing and decreasing, and using double-pointed needles. Students must know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. This is a great refresher class for knitters who haven't knit for a while and want to start up again.


 Crochet 101 

$45 (supplies included)

Have fun learning the wonderful art of crochet! Crochet is fast and a lot of people think much easier than knitting because you only worry about one loop and one hook at a time! 
 
​In this class, each student will learn to chain and the basic single crochet stitch to create a soft washcloth.


Supplies: Worsted weight cotton yarn in a light color and size H or I hook.
Optional: A beginning crochet book such as the TNNA Learn to crochet

Prerequisites: None!
Time: Two 1 ½ -hour sessions


Knitting 102

$45 (supplies included)


Supplies: Worsted weight cotton yarn in a light color and size 8 needles.
Optional: A beginning knitting book such as the TNNA Learn to Knit.
Prerequisites: Knitting 101
Time: Two 1 1/2-hour sessions.
In this class, you will refresh your knowledge of how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. You’ll also learn how to combine knitting and purling to create different stitch patterns and textures, common knitting terms, and the basics of reading a pattern.  At the end of the class you will have completed a dishcloth with a pattern
Practice is essential to successful knitting, so starting with the knit and purl stitch and a simple project will start you on the right path.



Crochet 102

$45 (supplies included)


This class will teach you the double crochet, how to read a pattern, being able to combine stitches to create different stitch patterns and textures.  At the end of the class you will have completed a patterned dish cloth.

Supplies:      Worsted weight cotton yarn and size H or I hook.

Optional:       A beginning crochet book such as the TNNA Learn to crochet
Prerequisite:  Ability to chain and single crochet.

Time: Two 1 ½ -hour sessions

As with knitting, practice is essential to successful crochet.  We will show you the basics, hold your hand along the way and encourage joy and pleasure with your projects.


Crochet Plaid Dishcloth


Once you learn this technique, the possibilities are endless.  You can crochet a plaid scarf, afghan and even a hat.
Supplies:  Universal Yarn Cotton Supreme - 2 skeins, 2 colors Size F or G crochet hook

The basic classes will be available for individuals by appointment only.  We find that individual instruction is the best environment for beginners.  Once you learn the basics, the sky is the limit!

Knitting 101

Double Knitting

Double Knitting creates a two-color fabric of stockinette stitch on each side, with mirror​-image color work.


Supplies:    1 ball each of 2 colors DK weight yarn and size 5, 16" needle, markers

Prerequisite:  Ability to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off
